My Story

Hi, I am Jim Wiedrick.

I grew up in Grimshaw, in the Peace River region of Alberta, where my youth was filled with baseball, curling, and a bit of piano. My small-town upbringing instilled in me the importance of community and the value of working together to make a difference.

I pursued my university education in Edmonton, where I combined my interests in people, biology, and chemistry, which led me to medical school at the University of Alberta. My career began in rural medicine, where I trained and worked in a variety of communities, gaining firsthand experience in diverse and often challenging environments.

I also trained for an additional year in anesthesia including in our local operating room (OR). After 24 years of experience, including volunteering in rural developing hospital outposts, I retired from the OR but continue to work in emergency medicine.

In 1999, Teresa and I married, and while I was completing my residency training at Queen’s University, we started our family. Today, we are proud parents of four young adults, and seeing them grow motivates me to work towards a better future for the next generation.

Now, as I transition to a new phase of my career, I am ready to serve my community differently—by bringing my experience, passion, and commitment to public service to Parliament. As an independent candidate, I believe in a government that listens to the people and remains accountable. It’s time for a democracy that delivers real action on the issues that matter most to you, year-round, not just on election day.

Together, we can build a future where integrity, transparency, and service to the people are central to leadership. Join me in making this vision a reality.
